On March 8, 1941, a slight woman by the name of Eva L. Taylor sailed for Nigeria, Africa where she spent 16 years for Christ, laboring among the lepers to bring them healing of body and soul.  She was a saint of God, all the while very human.  She came to Third Baptist (now known as Lighthouse Independent Baptist Church) November of 1928.  She was given the right hand of fellowship the following month.  Eva Taylor left an impact upon the church. April 7, 1957, was a sad day for Third Baptist when the Lord called Eva Taylor home.

The Eva Taylor Missionary Society constituted in 1956.  After discontinuing the organization for several years, the Society once again was reorganized with its first meeting September 27, 2008 at 2:30 PM.  It was attended by 23 ladies and we continued to meet every month through May 16 , 2009. It has been expressed that many of our attendees have come to know our Missionaries so much better by attending The Eva Taylor Missionary Society.
 
Our new season of meetings will begin on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 2:30 PM.  The meetings are set around an "Afternoon Tea" and a light refreshment following the close of our meetings.  This allows for fellowship and getting to know each other better.
 
Each meeting, has as its main emphasis, Missions.  As often as possible, we have a lady involved in Missions speak to our group.  The other meetings, are spent in emphasizing how to come alongside of our Missionaries and encourage them in the work they have been called to do.  We pray, write notes, cards, and attempt to meet a need in our Missionaries' lives when possible.
 
Each meeting, time is spent in praying for recent needs made known to us usually by way of e-mails.  A list of prayer requests is made available to each lady so they can bring the Missionaries' petitions to the Lord each day following the meetings.
 
We would love to have ladies come and join with us on each third Saturday at 2:30 PM starting this coming September.
